What is causing the black stains and streaks on my roof?
An airborne algae, lichen mold or fungi more commonly referred to as Glesocaspa Magma. These algae spores are carried to our roofs by the wind. its source of growth are the limestone fillers in your roof’s shingles combined with moisture from dew, rain and high humidity. These mold spores eventually spread and develop root systems in the underlying mat of the shingles, and if left untreated will eventually cause damage and possibly leaks.

What does it cost to clean my roof as opposed to replacing it?
The slope or pitch of the roof as well as the severity of the algae or moss coverage are the main factors we consider when pricing your roof cleaning. Cleaning your roof typically costs from 5% to 10% of the cost of replacing your roof. If we determine that your roof may not be a suitable candidate for a successful cleaning we would be happy to give you a Free no obligation estimate to replace it. This treatment should be repeated every 2 to 4 years as routine maintenance to keep your roof free from algae and moss until it is time for replacement.

How long does the process take and what can I expect?
For an average size roof surface or about 2400 sq. ft., it typically takes 3 to 5 hours to treat and rinse the roof. The process is not complete once the solution has been applied to the roof’s surface. The Eco-Clean solution is moisture activated with morning dew and rain creating a nature induced natural rinsing action and typically takes 3 to 5 weeks before the roof looks new again. Patience is a key ingredient in the cleaning process.

What if I want immediate results on the day of service?
If immediate results are desired on the same day as the solution is applied we can use our high-volume low- pressure rinsing method to completely clean the roof on the same day. keep in mind that though the results may be immediate, this process is much more labor intensive and will likely increase the price of the service by about 20%.

Will the stains come back?
Unfortunately the answer is yes. With a proper roof cleaning treatment the algae can stay away as long as 3 to 5 years. We have also seen algae return to roofs in very shady and moisture prone areas in as little as 2 to 4 years. This is why we suggest cleaning the roof every few years as part of your regular home maintenance routine.
